Ooty, also known as “Udhagamandalam”, is a hill station located in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India.

It has a weather and an environment that certainly creates a cold atmosphere around you.

The beautiful Nilgiri mountains surround Ooty. Ooty has a vast population of animals and a diverse environment. It is certainly a city like no other.

A must visit for people planning for a trip to that location most importantly due to its beautiful temperature varying from 12°C to 15°C.

Ooty is famous for its home-made chocolates and tea. So visit the two main factories in Ooty that produce home made chocolates, tea, oils and other essentials.

I would like to certainly share my experience of my visit to that beautiful city. In addition, I would advise my fellow travelers to look out for these breath taking places.

PLACES TO VISIT IN OOTY:

1) DODDABETTA PEAK (OOTY):

Firstly, the distance between DODDABETTA PEAK and the bustling city of Ooty is about 9km. This is the highest peak located in Nilgiri hills at about 2640 ft.

Secondly, the public can explore the beautiful city of Ooty from an observatory located at the top of Doddabetta with two telescopes.

Thirdly, forests surround the peak. Hence, there is a beautiful view of exotic animals and birds.

In conclusion, this is a must visit place for first timers.

2) BOTANICAL GARDEN (OOTY):

Beautifully laid out gardens, plants and flowers makes this place a famous spot in Ooty.

The Government plants different categories of flora from all over the world in this beautiful place.

Exotic flowers and plants have been planted in order, according to different countries! So, Government prohibits plucking flowers in the area.

It is being maintained by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It was founded by William Graham Mclvor.

A must visit for all tourists!

3) TEA AND CHOCOLATE FACTORY (OOTY):

This is one of the most famous attractions of the city. There are two main factories located in Ooty that produce quality tea of different flavors.

The tea making process is explained in detail by the staff. They take you along the factory and provide fresh tea that tastes delicious.

Moreover, the entry fee is about Rs 40/- only. Do keep separate money since chocolate is another product that is loved by all.

They explain the process of making chocolates. They provide fresh chocolate sample along the chocolate museum.

The home made chocolates are famous in Ooty. Other confectionaries like eucalyptus oil, rose oil and almond oil are made here.

4) NILGIRI MOUNTAIN RAILWAY:

Britishers created this railway line in 1908. Hence, Southern Railways run this railway line.

Its has been considered as a WORLD HERITAGE SITE by UNESCO.

Beautiful views of the hills are seen. This is one tourist destination not to be missed.

One has to book tickets via the railway station or online. I would recommend this place to all tourists.

5) WENLOCK SHOOTING POINT:

WENLOCK SHOOTING POINT is situated along the Ooty-Pykara road. It is famous for its beautiful and breathtaking views.

In addition, a lot of Indian films have been shot in this area. A must visit for travelers. Moreover, the ticket costs about Rs 5 only.

Certainly, horse riding is the main activity in this area. Above all, a lot of street food is found outside the shooting point.

6) PYKARA LAKE:

Pykara Lake is one of the most famous lakes around Ooty. That is to say, its surrounded by the Nilgiri forest with rare views of exotic animals and birds.

In conclusion, this place is famous for its views and boating and a must visit for all tourists.
